Rebates

City of San Diego Rain Tank Voucher Program. The City of San Diego Stormwater Department, in partnership with CatchingH2O, has launched a new program offering City of San Diego residents vouchers toward discounted rain tanks. This program is being funded by an Integrated Regional Water Management Program grant awarded to the City to help increase access to residential rainwater harvesting. This program is being piloted for 4 specific tanks. If you want a different option, you can still qualify for the Rebate (see below).
City Of San Diego Water Conservation Rebate Program. San Diego residents who receive water service from the City of San Diego Public Utilities Department can now apply through the City’s Think Blue rebate program. Current rebate amount on cisterns up to 5,000 gallons: $1.50 per gallon of storage capacity, up to $800 per property/unit.
San Diego Countywide Cistern Rebates (SoCal WaterSmart). San Diego County residents may be eligible for countywide rain cistern rebates offered through SoCal WaterSmart. These rebates are available to households with a municipal water bill, regardless of whether they live in an incorporated city or an unincorporated area of the county. Cistern rebates typically range from $250 to $350, depending on system size and program guidelines. City of San Diego residents are able to combine this rebate with City programs, effectively “double dipping” where allowed.
Waterscape Rebate Program. If you live in unincorporated San Diego County, you may qualify for rebates through the Waterscape Rebate Program for rainwater storage and ALSO rainwater gardens that control substantial volume from roofs. Click here to see if you qualify. Current rebate amount (up to $3,000): $1.00/sq. ft of roof directed to rainwater harvesting areas (storage tanks or gardens). Cisterns must have a capacity between 200 and 5,000 gallons. Program requires pre-approval. We can help you optimize this rebate opportunity!

The site visit consultation fee is $75 for customers who purchased their tank through CatchingH2O ($150 for non-customers) and includes the Do-It-Yourself PDF Download ($25 value) at no additional cost. You can also upgrade your consultation by adding a customized kit of parts to your site visit, making installation even more convenient. Pricing for the kit of parts can be requested through the consultation request form.
