The course was more intensive than I thought, but I did like jumping in and immersing myself in the material. I feel I was really able to grasp the concepts, especially in the additional work days.

This course far exceeded my expectations which were already high given Brook’s expertise. What I didn’t expect is how confident I would feel by the end of the course to install greywater and rainwater systems on my own. I had expected I would understand all the options better but, No, this course gave me the education AND the hands-on experience to install my own systems. I HIGHLY recommend this course!

The Water Harvesting Certification course was like no other and greatly exceeded any expectations I had. I didn’t want the course to end. In class days are informative and give a foundation for hands on site work. Learning by doing and working with fellow students along side Brook and the other CatchingH2O Team was more than inspiring. We completed several projects at different sites from start to finish and maintained different kinds of systems all over San Diego. If you are looking for an authentic learning experience and to work towards something that makes the world a better place, this is the course for you.

This was a fantastic course! Brook is a passionate, inspiring teacher. I learned practical skills to be able to install water harvesting systems at my own house and gained a foundation of knowledge that I can keep building upon into the future. Challenging and crazy fun! The opportunity to collaborate and implement strategies with this experimental, encouraging group was the perfect mix. We learned how to install laundry greywater systems, rainwater tanks and catchment systems, along with thought provoking passive earthwork experimentation. Brook exposed us to a broad range of catchment “problems”, along with creative solutions in a true “hands on” work environment. I’ve been able to bring these ideas home and are implementing as was my intention. Best part? Meeting and working with a smart, creative, energetic bunch of entrepreneurs from the San Diego area-what fun!❤️

I had been researching rainwater/greywater for a few years now but didn’t understand it completely. The course was exactly what I needed to fill in the gaps and necessary details in order to plan, build, and maintain successful strategies for water harvesting. The hands-on nature of the course was excellent and working alongside Brook and the rest of the course students was a great experience. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is serious about water harvesting!!

This class was amazing! Brook is an awesome teacher and I left the course feeling like I could install these systems at my own house. I loved the hands on experience and felt it was crucial to learn all of this stuff.

Brook is one of the most inspiring people I’ve met. She’s extremely knowledgable, a great teacher, and it’s apparent how passionate she is about teaching others to harvest water (she also makes spending an entire day digging fun). I learned a ton in this course – it’s the perfect combination of classroom learning (so you understand the theory and where to start) with hands on implementation (so you can actually do it in real life). I also met a great group of fascinating people connected by a drive to take an active role in converting our fragile and dessicated Southern California landscape to one of resilient abundance. I really can’t say enough good things about this course – it’s more than worth your time and money.

Water scarcity may soon become a reality in Southern California. As such, personal water management is one way to minimize our dependency on city water. Watering the garden with rain water from our roofs and grey-water from our homes minimizes our reliance on city water.
CatchingH2O helped us capture rain water and install a pump to move rainwater to our vegetables. It’s been great for the veggies and for our personal water management. Brook and Rosalind are passionate about their work and they are both friendly and knowledgeable.
CatchingH2O also helped set-up laundry grey-water to all of our fruit trees. We have young children so we do a lot of laundry and now that city water can serve two purposes.
As we consider upgrades to our plumbing, we will be reaching out to CatchingH2O to give us recommendations of how to utilize other grey-water sources for the garden.
Thanks to Brook and Rosalind, we are better prepared in the event we are asked to limit water use per household.

When a tree limb broke off in a spring storm and poked a hole in our garage roof, we had to get a new roof and new gutters on the house and it sparked an idea that we’d been kicking around for a while: let’s get some rain barrels and catch some rainwater to water our fruit trees and vegetables! After quickly reaffirming that I am no good at staying organized and not the least bit handy with tools, we found Catching H2O online and contacted Brook Sarson to provide us with a consultation and a plan for how we could maximize our ability to catch and store water, both in tanks and in the soil, as well as use our laundry water with much greater efficiency. The plan was epic! 
 
In three separate phases, we put in 1000 gallons of rainwater storage in the front yard, put in a greywater system from the washing machine, and added a 660-gallon tank in the back yard. The front tanks and the greywater system were installed by a group of community members that were part of a training program led by Brook, it was totally awesome and got done in a day. It was inspiring! The systems are working really well now, the greywater helps irrigate fruit trees, ornamentals, and vegetables out front, to the tune of about 6k gallons a year, and the rainwater tanks collect over 700 gallons for every 1″ of rain. We use the rainwater to water all of our plants, inside and outside of our home. 
 
Lastly, I accidentally drained all the rainwater out one day from the front tanks, 1000k, gone! There was no damage to anything, the system worked perfectly well in the owner-inflicted overflow, further proof of CatchingH2O’s strong design. If you’re considering adding rainwater and/or greywater, I’d highly recommend it and would be happy to show our setup to prospective rainwater and greywater harvesters!

Consultation:  Catching H2O conducted an evaluation on our property for rainwater collection options and gray water use.  The water harvesting report provided an overview for the goals, rain collection estimates (specific to our home), system design concepts and tank options. The calculation showed that 938 gallons of water could be collected from one inch of rain from the three downspouts along the back roof. The proposed system was a well thought out gravity flow design, free of pumps and electrical hookups. 
Communication: Each stage of work was clearly identified.  Options regarding delivery and temporary storage locations were thoughtfully considered.
Crew/Day of installation:  Great crew. Watching the tank relocation to the back yard was exhilarating.

I just had CatchingH2O install my greywater laundry system today.

I cannot thank Brook enough for her work. The workshop was more than fun, we met amazing people who want to do what they can to play a part in water conservation. I made friends today AND found a new reason to enjoy doing my laundry. Every time I wash my clothes, I am providing life to my fruit orchard. Brook knows her stuff, and is extremely educated on all things greywater. So grateful to have made a new friend. CatchingH2O is legit and provides everything you need to reuse your water.

Working with CatchingH2O was an absolute joy.

They did a remarkable job making recommendations on strategies following the site survey that suited my DIY nature. What really impressed me was the follow up idea to host a workshop at my home to address my budget constraints installing our laundry to landscape system.
